Issue du reportage institutionnel, elle débute sa carrière à vingt ans, d'abord à l'Hôtel de Ville de Paris puis comme photographe officielle de l'UNESCO. Sa série « Univers urbains » connaît un succès viral dès 2011, année où elle reçoit le Prix Coup de Cœur du Salon de la Photographie ; en 2013, année charnière, sa couverture de Réponses Photo se vend en quelques heures, est rééditée puis épuisée, tandis qu'elle est finaliste du Grand Prix photographique d'Abu Dhabi et invitée sur France 3. Elle entre la même année au Salon d'Automne, où elle devient sociétaire dès sa première participation, menant en parallèle des masterclasses pour la célèbre maison Aguila Voyages, alors référence de l'enseignement de la photographie de voyage. Lauréate de la Toile d'Or à Art Capital — Grand Palais — en 2014, elle fonde en 2016 la section Art Digital & Vidéo du Salon d'Automne qu'elle préside, et devient sociétaire de la Fondation Taylor en 2017 : une photographe multi-primée, dont le regard est aujourd'hui reconnu par les plus grandes institutions.Coming from institutional photojournalism, she began her career at twenty, first at the Hôtel de Ville de Paris, then as an official photographer for UNESCO. Her “Univers urbains” series went viral from 2011 — the year she received the Prix Coup de Cœur at the Salon de la Photographie; in 2013, a pivotal year, her Réponses Photo cover sold out within hours, was reprinted and sold out again, while she was a finalist for the Abu Dhabi Photography Grand Prix and featured on France 3. That same year she entered the Salon d'Automne, becoming a full member from her very first participation, while leading masterclasses for the renowned Aguila Voyages, then the reference in travel photography teaching. Awarded the Toile d'Or at Art Capital — Grand Palais — in 2014, she founded the Salon d'Automne's Art Digital & Video section in 2016, which she now presides over, and became a member of the Fondation Taylor in 2017: a multi-award-winning photographer, whose eye is now recognized by the world's leading institutions.

Depuis quelques années, elle crée également en art digital — une démarche née de timelapses de ses propres photographies, puis de compositions et d'univers imaginés pour sa photographie de nouveau-nés. Elle expose aujourd'hui ces créations — mandalas, figures angéliques, archanges de lumière — au sein de sa propre section.For several years now, she has also been creating digital art — a practice born from timelapses of her own photographs, then from compositions and imagined settings for her newborn photography. She now exhibits these creations — mandalas, angelic figures, archangels of light — within her own section.

En 2016, elle fonde la section Art Digital du Salon d'Automne, institution née en 1903 qui vit éclore le fauvisme, le cubisme et l'expressionnisme. Par ce geste fondateur, Isabelle Schmitt a fait entrer l'art digital dans l'histoire de l'art contemporain, au même titre que ces grands mouvements ; au fil de onze éditions, cette section demeure, depuis dix ans, la seule section d'art digital à siéger au cœur des salons historiques d'art français. En 2022, elle poursuit son engagement, dans le prolongement de cette même section et pour faire vivre les arts numériques, en fondant le collectif et maison d'artistes Digital Is My Art, ainsi qu'un Fond d'Œuvres indépendant diffusé chez PixPalace.In 2016, she founded the Art Digital section of the Salon d'Automne, an institution born in 1903 that witnessed the rise of Fauvism, Cubism and Expressionism. Through this founding gesture, Isabelle Schmitt brought digital art into the history of contemporary art, on equal footing with these great movements; across eleven editions, this section has remained for ten years the only digital art section to sit at the heart of France's historic art salons. In 2022, she continued her commitment, in the continuation of that same section and to keep the digital arts alive, by founding the collective and artist house Digital Is My Art, along with an independent Art Fund distributed through PixPalace.
